Live Coverage of Debates, Election and Post Election Wrap Special Broadcast In Partnership with Germany’s International Broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW): Three Related Web Specials Online

BURBANK, Calif.August 31, 2016KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent nonprofit public broadcast and digital network, which includes both Southern California's KCET public television service as well as the Link TV national satellite network, announced today plans to take their respective television viewers and website users to the upcoming Sun., Sept. 24 German national election – for an alternative perspective to the coverage by mainstream media. KCET and Link TV’s on-air and online audience will get a unique insight into Germany’s current political climate and the platforms of its political party candidates thanks to a variety of programming from Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW).

KCET public television in Southern California plans to broadcast the election live on Sun., Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. While Link TV, available nationwide to all subscribers of Dish Network (channel 9410) and DirecTV (channel 375), will be carrying two live debates (Sun., Sept. 3 and Wed., Sept. 13), election day coverage (captioned) on Sun., Sept. 24 and a post-election special edition on Mon., Sept. 25 during the internationally acclaimed talk show QUADRIGA.

DW will also provide digital video content for KCET and Link TV that will be used on both online platforms at kcet.org and linktv.org as well as both services’ social media platforms that will introduce the current situation in Germany, in preparation of the elections. All videos are two to three minutes long and will be available starting in early September. KCET and Link TV’s social media platforms will also feature timely Tweets (@KCET and @LinkTV), and Facebook posts (Facebook.com/KCET28 and Facebook.com/LinkTV) with related content from the programming. CONFLICT ZONE invites representatives from seven parties to face tough questions in a live debate just days ahead of Germany's national election moderated by Conflict Zone's Tim Sebastian. It will be conducted in English and focus on foreign policy. The panel will include members of all parties likely to win seats. The main topics of discussion: EU and Brexit, the U.S. under President Trump, relations with Russia, relations with Turkey, refugees and migration.
