In 1920s Melbourne, Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis) is a thoroughly modern woman operating in a mostly male world. The glamorous lady detective sashays through the back lanes and jazz clubs, fighting injustice with her pearl-handled pistol, her dagger-sharp wit and a gentleman suitor always nearby.
