Burbank, Calif. –February 3, 2017 – KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, announced today that KCET’s longtime Thurs. night fan-favorite series DOC MARTIN will be getting a new partner in crime in amateur sleuth AGATHA RAISIN, played by Ashley Jensen (“Extras,” “The Lobster,” “Ugly Betty”). The new Brit comedy-drama television series is based on the popular novels by author M.C. Beaton about a public relations executive turned quirky detective as she investigates crimes in a quiet English village. AGATHA RAISIN will premiere on KCET in Southern California on Thurs., March 2 at 10 p.m. PT and is available online at KCET.org/MissFisher for streaming episodes 14 days after their original telecast.

In the AGATHA RAISIN series opener, the prickly but likeable London-based public relations executive finds herself burnt out on office politics and jumps at the chance to retire early to a picturesque village in the Cotswolds. But she soon finds a second career as an amateur detective investigating mischief, mayhem and murder in her new deceptively quaint town, when Agatha’s entry in a quiche-baking contest kills the judge. AGATHA RAISIN finds herself doing the kind of damage control she routinely did for clients as she makes outrageous attempts to be accepted by her new neighbors.

AGATHA RAISIN will join a new line up of programming on KCET that highlights strong female leads in crime dramas that includes MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES, which follows female private detective Essie Davis (Phryne Fisher) in 1920s Melbourne as she sashays through the back lanes of jazz clubs fighting injustice with her pearl-handled pistol, her dagger-sharp wit and a gentleman suitor always nearby. MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES airs Sundays at 9 p.m. PT on KCET and is available online at KCET.org/MissFisher for streaming episodes 14 days after their original telecast.

Additional new crime dramas on KCET featuring leading ladies include JANET KING and THE CORONER airing every Mon. at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. PT on KCET in Southern California.
