PBS SoCal Launches 53rd Annual California Student Media Festival For Grades K-12

Entry Period for Submissions Opens March 4
Burbank, Calif. – Feb. 6, 2019 – PBS SoCal announced today the launch of the 53rd Annual California Student Media Festival celebrating media and multimedia literacy among the Golden State’s kindergarten through 12th grade students. Entering its 53rd season, the annual festival is the oldest student media competition in the state and is FREE for teachers of media and multimedia education to enter. Winners will be announced later this spring. Prize packages include cash for the submitting schools and tools for classroom media creation. Teachers are encouraged to enter their students’ individual and group projects into the annual competition starting Mon., March 4, 2019 with entries due Fri., March 15, 2019. Over the past two decades, the California Student Media Festival has awarded more than $145,000 to California schools and expanded its reach to accommodate the growing number of student contestants from elementary, middle and high schools across the Golden State. It has expanded to include the work of more than 6,000 student contestants from schools across the state.
