SoCal Connected Honored with Gracie Award for Outstanding Hard News Feature
SOCAL CONNECTED HONORED WITH GRACIE AWARD® FOR OUTSTANDING HARD NEWS FEATURE
Los Angeles - February 24, 2012 - KCET, the nation's largest independent television station serving Southern and Central California, is pleased to announce that SoCal Connected, the station's hard-hitting weekly news program, will receive the esteemed Gracie Award® for Outstanding Hard News Feature for the piece, "No Place to Call Home", produced by Angela Shelley.
In the 30-minute special report that originally aired on March 24, 2011, SoCal Connected correspondent and Orange County Register columnist Yvette Cabrera explores the thousands of families forced to live in motels as they struggle to find affordable housing in Orange County.

Presented by the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) Foundation, The Gracie Award® recognizes exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of electronic media, as well as individuals who have made contributions to the industry. The awards program also encourages the realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news, features and other programs.
The award, recognized in the Local, Online, Public, and Student Award Winners category, will be presented during the Gracie Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the historic Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
