Los Angeles, CA - January 10, 2012 - SoCal Connected looks at one of the most pressing issues of our time:  the escalating cost of health care, even if you have health insurance.

SoCal Connected moves to 9:00 PM Fridays beginning this week, January 13, following Moyers and Company, Bill Moyer's new hour discussion show  at 8:00 p.m.

"Your Money or Your Life"

Correspondent Jennifer London dives into an issue that has become a political hot button, the high cost of health care, through the personal stories of two cancer patients who are now deeply in debt despite their health insurance coverage.  They are literally "scared to die, scared to live" because of mounting bills stemming from expensive treatment.  Insurance costs are high and so are deductibles and co-pays.

California, particularly Southern California, is ground zero for the nation's health care crisis. According to a UCLA study, 2.2 million people are currently in medical debt with 2/3 of those actually covered by health insurance.

"Your Turn to Care"

SoCal Connected spotlights a local resident who, like many baby boomers, has taken her older parents into her home. She is now struggling to financially survive and lead a normal life while also being a caregiver and trying to do right by her parents.

"The Unger Report"

Brian Unger opines on the most common New Years resolution ... weight loss. He addresses the popularity of the January resolution to burn off those holiday pounds.

SoCal Connected airs Friday, January 13 at 9:00 p.m. with encore airings on Saturdays at 6:00 PM, Sundays at 1:00 PM and 6:30 PM, and Mondays at 10:30 PM.

The Executive Producer of SoCal Connected is Bret Marcus. Co-Executive Producer is Justine Schmidt. Anchor is Val Zavala.
