SOCAL CONNECTED RECEIVES 8 EMMY® NOMINATIONSCritically acclaimed local news show also nominated for prestigious Imagen Award.
SoCal Connected, KCET's hard-hitting weekly news program, has been nominated for eight Emmy® awards, including Best Talk/Public Affairs/News Series and Best Feature.
The third season of SoCal Connected received Emmy® nominations in the following seven categories:1. Education: California Votes Special2. Crime/Social Issues: "Protected or Neglected?" (Cal-OSHA special report)3. Information/Public Affairs Series (more than 50% remote): SoCal Connected4. Feature segment: "Putting on Ayers"5. Information Segment: (two nominations): "Separated by War" and " The Price of Power"6. Outstanding non-News writer: Steve Lopez7. Outstanding non-News Editor: Alberto ArceThe 63rd Annual Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards will be held August 6, 2011 at The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood. SoCal Connected previously won six Los Angeles Area Emmy® Awards during its first season in 2009.
In addition, SoCal Connected was nominated for an Imagen Award in the Best Local Informational Program category for the episode titled "A Border Between Them." The prestigious Imagen Award recognizes positive portrayals of Latinos in the media. The awards will be presented at a gala black-tie dinner on August 12 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel International Ballroom.
