SoCal Connected Takes to the Streets with LAPD's Reserve Officers...Plus an Update on California's High Speed Rail Line
SOCAL CONNECTED TAKES TO THE STREETS WITH LAPD'S RESERVE OFFICERS WHO PATROL FOR FREE
PLUS WILL IT OR WON'T IT BE BUILT? AN UPDATE ON CALIFORNIA'S PROPOSED HIGH SPEED RAIL LINE UP THE COAST
Episode airs February 11 at 9:00 PM
Los Angeles, CA - February 7, 2012 - This week, SoCal Connected correspondent Brian Rooney takes to the streets with the LAPD reserve officers--those cops who volunteer their time to patrol for free. At a time when the department has little money for overtime, the efforts of these 422 trained volunteers save the city more than $5 million a year. The program recently got attention when a volunteer cop (a lawyer by trade) singlehandedly arrested a man accused of torching dozens of cars in Hollywood.
Then, SoCal Connected's Val Zavala updates the controversy over building a high-speed rail line up the coast. Not only is the project price rising, but so are the tempers.
Lastly, SoCal Humorist Brian Unger looks at the High-Speed Rail debate in his own inimitable way. Unger asks the question, 'Why are we worrying about the high speed transportation from Los Angeles to San Francisco, when we can't even get around LA because of all the traffic?'
