Los Angeles, CA - January 3, 2012 - This week, SoCal Connected's Val Zavala sits down for a frank interview with outspoken TV journalist and commentator Bill Moyers about the state of America today, including his assessment that "the growth of inequality in this country is the biggest story of our time. The have-nots now have less than they ever did. The have-it-alls now have more than they ever did." Moyers also has a candid assessment of the President, telling Zavala "You gotta fight for the people. He's not a fighter. He's a good, smart guy, but he's not a fighter." This interview comes a week before Moyers returns to KCET and public television with a new program "Moyers and Company" which debuts January 13th at 8pm on KCET.
"Testing the Limits"
In an encore broadcast, correspondent Michael Okwu examines the blurring line between free speech and domestic terrorism on the campus of UCLA, where biomedical researchers have been targeted by extremist, sometimes violent, animal rights activists. Protesters have taken their fight to the homes of researchers - protests that include three car bombings, a home invasion, and death threats. Okwu investigates the trend that the Justice Department estimates has cost over $110 million in property damage and ranks as a significant domestic terror threat.
