Statement from the BBC regarding KCET

January 11, 2012

We are delighted to announce that the BBC has extended its existing distribution agreement with KCET. KCET will continue to syndicate selected BBC World News bulletins and the corporation's award-winning flagship U.S. newscast BBC World News America, anchored by Katty Kay to Public Television stations in the U.S.
The 30-minute programmes deliver daily in-depth reports and analysis on the major international news stories as well as provide a unique insight into events across the U.S.

PBS stations have been carrying programming from the BBC's international news since 1998.

This renewal agreement, providing U.S. audiences with the opportunity to see distinct parts of the BBC's international output, complements the partnerships the BBC has with major U.S. multichannel video providers to distribute BBC World News, the BBC's 24-hour international news channel.

Richard Porter, Controller English, BBC Global News, said: "We are delighted to renew our partnership with KCET. We know there's a growing hunger for the BBC's smart and unvarnished international journalism in the U.S.  This partnership will play a vital role in showcasing both our flagship U.S. newscast BBC World News America and our 24/7 channel, BBC World News-and will complement our agreements with major U.S. cable operators."
