UPDATED: KCETLink Wins for Best Television Documentary at the 56th Annual SoCal Journalism Awards Presented by the Los Angeles Press Club

June 30, 2014 - KCETLink won the first place award in the television

documentary category for its award-winning local news program,

SOCAL

CONNECTED

at the 56th Annual SoCal Journalism Awards presented by the Los

Angeles Press Club. 

The winning report, SOCAL CONNECTED: "L.A. EXPERIMENT" details the handling of sexual misconduct of priests in

the Los Angeles Archdiocese. The news team gained access to tapes of a 1996

lecture in which a church official discusses the "L.A. Model," an

experimental program that placed abusive priests in desk jobs in the Diocese or

helped them find employment throughout the city.

The L.A. Press Club Awards recognize highest-quality

journalism in print, television, and other media in the Southern California

region. KCETLink received 13 nominations this year for several specials

and SOCAL CONNECTED.
