Do-It-Yourself Mobile Phones

In Hamburg, a group of electronic hobby inventors spent four weeks building their own mobile phones in a do-it-yourself workshop hosted by Fab Lab.

Fab Labs are "public technical libraries," or fabrication laboratories, where people have access to innovative technologies used in production facilities. The member and donation-supported centers offer hands-on learning experiences for the general public with access to a variety of industrial machines. The Hamburg facility is one of 600 Fab Labs across the world demonstrating factories and workshops can co-exist among expensive apartments, offices, and retail space in major cities.
