On Saturday April 30th, KCET Departures participated in Mayor Villaraigosa's Los Angeles River Day of Service at Rio de Los Angeles State Park by holding another StoryShare event to collect people's personal history and anecdotes relating to the L.A. River.

The unusually warm spring day was a perfect setting for L.A. River fans to come out in droves to the park. Many were excited to share with us their memories, commentaries, and songs about what makes the river so special to their lives.

We interviewed the winners of the Song of the L.A. River Project, who were later invited to the stage by Ozomatli and rocked their river-themed songs to a captive audience.

In the coming weeks Departures will be featuring the stories that we collected at the event. We will also be sharing the winning L.A. River songs, along with the interviews.

Stay tuned!

You can hear stories from our past StoryShare events in the Departures Community section.
