Fine Cut

Can't Talk About It

The 18th annual Fine Cut Festival of Films is a collection of short films from student and emerging filmmakers. In this episode, "Tales of a Shadow" from Belgium (Documentary), "Domestic Policy" from Canada (Historical), "From The Depths" from Mexico (Experimental), "Rebecka, Portrait of a Mother" from Sweden (Drama).

"Tales of a Shadow"

The documentary is about the third generation asking for the first generation's stories -- stories about their life when they were hidden as Jewish children in the war. Stories they have never told, not to their children and not even to each other. They start talking about their pushed-away-past, and with that information I made a road trip, to search for their memories..

"Domestic Policy"

A satirical comedy which wryly suggests that today's obsession with female appearance was borne out of one official government meeting that took place just after WW1.

"From The Depths"

The moment when a couple finds out that their relation reaches rock bottom.

"Rebecka, Portrait of a Mother"

Rebecka suffers from Postpartum depression and can’t bond with her daughter. She finds an unconventional solution to the situation, but this is suddenly taken away from her. The sandcastle, upon which she has constructed her newfound happiness, falls. Now she finds herself heading in a new direction.
