Challenges
The 18th annual Fine Cut Festival of Films is a collection of short films from student and emerging filmmakers. In this episode, "The Melody of Unexpected Encounters" from the Russian Federation (Romantic Comedy), "Score" from Belgium (Drama), "HELL YOU TALMBOUT" from the U.S. (Experimental), and "Hide and Seek" from France (Suspense).
"The Melody of Unexpected Encounters"
A young Courier rides a scooter in order to deliver a parcel. He is sloshed by a flusher truck on his way and the name of the addressee written on the parcel becomes unreadable. When the Courier arrives to the destination, he realizes that the parcel is addressed to one of the lodgers of a communal apartment but he doesn’t know to whom exactly. After long hesitations he pushes one of the doorbells....
"Score"
Jason, a guy with down syndrome, is the personal assistant of the local soccer team. When the team confronts him with his mental illness he wants to prove that he, just like everyone, can get a ‘normal’ girlfriend. When his first date doesn’t turns out like he hoped, his wish might come true during a local party.
"HELL YOU TALMBOUT"
In the wake of the country’s social and political current events, "Hell You Talmbout" artfully confronts police violence, racial discrimination and the Black Lives Matter movement through spoken word, tap dance, and most importantly, its impact as seen through the eyes of our youth.
"Hide and Seek"
A room painted blue. White corridors. Some patients. Alice is in the hospital. Here, she does not invite. She gets visitors.
