Ticket Giveaway: Fine Cut 2018
KCET, in partnership with The American Pavilion, would like to offer one lucky viewer a pair of tickets to the 19th annual Fine Cut Festival of Films Awards and Filmmakers Reception on Weds., Sept. 19 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the historic Director's Guild of America (7920 Sunset Blvd., LA, CA 90046) made possible by The Bridges/Larson Foundation. The VIP Filmmaker reception will immediately follow the invite-only screening event with award presenters that include Deadline.com Chief Film Critic/KCET Must See Movies Host Pete Hammond, film/TV producer Effie T. Brown ("Dear White People," "Star," "Project Greenlight"), Oscar nominated Film and TV Actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste ("Blindspot," " Without a Trace," "Broadchurch," "Training Day," "Secrets and Lies"), and the Executive Director of the Intl. Documentary Association Simon Kilmurry (PBS' "POV").
Of over 300 entries, 16 short films from southern California student filmmakers were selected as finalists in the categories of Documentary, Animation and Narrative shorts. Nominees and winners in each of the categories will be announced at this private awards ceremony and screening event. Winners are awarded the opportunity to be a part of The American Pavilion screening at the Cannes International Film Festival in May of 2019.
All short films selected as finalists in the FINE CUT Festival of Films will be included in a series of half-hour broadcast episodes on KCET public television in Southern California that will air starting Wed., Sept. 26 at 9:00 p.m. with many films available for streaming at kcet.org/finecut.
