Forage: Soy & Coca-Cola Steak, Broccoli and Succotash

This week we treated Felicia Friesema to Foragein Silver Lake. Felicia is a great advocate for local and sustainable food—blogger, market columnist for the LA Weekly and a certified UC Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver.

It was our pleasure to invite Felicia to this trailblazing eatery that she had been meaning to try and with which she has so much in common.

Forage emphasizes their relationship to local farmers and has been at the forefront of serving food by urban growers. Felicia's suggestion that she review the food at Forage made a lot of sense.

She ordered a combination from Forage's menu that included one small protein and two sides. Her selections were soy and Coca-Cola marinated flank steak, Gloria's Broccoli and summer succotash.

Forage offers a varied menu that's seasonal. The decor is minimalist, but their ambitions are nothing but. It's an ideal place for people who are concerned with eating well, being healthy and doing something for the local community. Here's a small sample of other dishes being served that day.

We'd really like to hear from you. Have you been to Forage? What do you think about the local food movement?

Please post your comments below, and by doing so you'll become eligible to participate in Free Lunch. Also, if you have some restaurant recommendations for us, please add them to this discussion.
