Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie: Burger, Frites & Beer

This week we treat Jeremy Bowditch to Ladyface Ale Companie in Agoura Hills.

Jeremy is an editor by trade who was raised in West Germany and happened to be there when the Berlin Wall came down. He may have been too young to have a beer back then but that did not stop him from enjoying the comaraderie of Germany's beer culture. In his own life, he makes a connection between that and the fellowship that the burgeoning craft beer movement has brought to Los Angeles.

Ladyface is largely about the beer, but as both an alehouse and a brasserie, they take pride in the food as well. Their menu emphasizes the use of local, seasonal produce, and they like to keep things interesting with some 'off-menu' offerings. Jeremy ordered one such item: the Ladyface Burger, served with caramelized onions and an egg sunny side up.

Jeremy also ordered Belgian fries served with aioli, red ale ketchup, blue cheese fondue and curry mustard. Although he prefers to dip his fries in mustard (due to his time living in Germany?), Jeremy dug the ketchup even more.

Jeremy also ordered an eight-glass flight of beer to sample all of Ladyface's current offerings.

If you live in the 'city' like Jeremy, Ladyface might be a bit far to check out for lunch. But it is located right off the 101 freeway and is close to a lot of outdoor parks and trails which makes the pub a popular destination/rest stop for local cycling enthusiasts.

What's your take on the brewpub/craft beer scene in L.A.? Is it just a trend or is it here to stay? Please post your comments below, and by doing so you'll become eligible to participate in Free Lunch.

Keep on Lunching!
