Geena Davis & Media's Portrayal of Women
The series premiere of "Full Frame" explores the portrayal of women in the media worldwide. For more than a century, women everywhere have fought for economic and educational equality, and political empowerment.
Host Mike Walter talks to Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis about how women are portrayed in film and TV, and the research findings of her Institute on Gender in Media.
Walter also speaks with Joy Chen, a Los Angeles-based writer and the author of "Do Not Marry Before Age Thirty." She describes how the modern Chinese woman is portrayed online, on air, and in glossy fashion magazines -- including international brands like Elle and Cosmopolitan. Chinese women are grappling with maintaining tradition amid the rampant commercialization in their lives.
