Huell goes to Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro for its famous “grunion run,” a night-time venture into the beach where small, silver grunion wash up to the shore. He then heads to the open plains of the Carrizo Plain Natural Area that is carpeted with wildflowers and is where the endangered kangaroo rats reside.
