Based on a novel by Dashiell Hammett, this 1934 film stars William Powell as hard-drinking retired former detective Nick Charles and Myrna Loy as his wealthy heiress wife Nora. Accompanied by their wire-haired fox terrier Asta, the pair trade quips and comic relief as they investigate a crime that has no obvious solution. The film became so popular that thirteen more "Thin Man" movies were produced and released with Powell and Loy.
