In this film version of the stage musical, based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, Tevye the milkman is a Jewish peasant in pre-revolutionary Russia trying to support his family and maintain his Jewish tradition under a czar that would like to run his people out of town. Tremendous songs and memorable dance sequences make this film a true classic.
