Reporter Roundup for August 27

County Settlement | August 27

On the August 27 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss a $1.5 million settlement over L.A. County Sheriff Villanueva, a troubling COVID-19 trend and a claim over Anthony McClain’s death.

L.A. County has agreed to pay its outgoing chief executive officer $1.5 million in a settlement over alleged harassment by Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Frank Stolze provides details.

A new study out of UCLA found working-age Latinos are contracting COVID-19 and dying from it at a higher rate than other races. Jackie Fortiér discusses the report.

Robert Garrova reports the family of Anthony McClain, who was killed by a police officer in Pasadena earlier this month, has filed a legal complaint against the city.
