Fiscal Emergency | September 2

On the September 2 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters report on the fatal shooting of Dijon Kizzee, L.A.’s financial woes and a vision for a free transit system.

Frank Stoltze reports the latest on the death of Dijon Kizzee, the man who was shot by Sheriff’s deputies Monday.

The Los Angeles City Council declared a fiscal emergency today, which paves the way for furloughs and early retirement buyouts. Libby Denkmann covers what this declaration means.

Meanwhile, Metro is exploring ways to eliminate passenger fares, with hopes to have a free transit system by the start of 2021. Ryan Fonseca shares more about the plan.
