Homeless Count | September 21

On the September 21 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss the Bobcat Fire, how the Census counts unhoused people in Los Angeles and the 2020 Emmy Awards.

The Bobcat Fire is 15% contained. Jacob Margolis shares the latest updates from the Antelope Valley and a note about which vegetation the fire is burning through most.

Census officials will begin to tally the homeless population living in Los Angeles shelters tomorrow. Caroline Champlain reports on how this process works and why COVID-19 delayed it.

The 2020 Emmy Awards ceremony was one of Hollywood’s first large awards shows to go virtual. John Horn reports on the many factors that made this year’s show so different and lessons the Academy could learn from it.
