Reporter Roundup for July 30

UC Budget, Ballot Rejects | July 30

On the July 30 edition of Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters break down the latest on the UC budget, rejected ballots and Charter School PPP funds.

More than half of the charter schools within the L.A. Unified School District got loans from the Paycheck Protection Program, but as KPCC’s Kyle Stokes notes, critics say they aren’t really the intended audience for PPP.

Today the Regents of the University of California system were set to vote on an $80 million budget cut. Adolfo Guzman Lopez explains what happened.

VOTE-BY-MAIL ballots have been put front and center by the pandemic and by President Trump who has made a series of unsupported claims about them leading to voter fraud. Austin Cross has a reality check about what is known about the ballots that get rejected.
