Driving While Distracted - SoCal Connected investigates, in partnership with Car & Driver Magazine, the latest danger on the road, texting while driving. In a series of real-time road tests, we demonstrate what happens when you text and drive, a practice so dangerous that 14 states have already outlawed it. SoCal Connected also looks at other driver distractions, including the latest "hands-free" technology, which may not be as safe as is commonly advertised.Distracted - In an essay about excessive accessibility, humorist Brian Unger remembers when we used to do our best thinking when we were alone and quiet. Now, he wonders, we have turned into a society that does our best texting while driving.
