Seniors Help Seniors Stay Independent
For a dollar a day, older Angelenos can retain the services of a volunteer at WISE Connections, an organization that brings together local residents over 50 and helps them continue living at home. According to WISE, the idea is based on the "village" concept that got its start in Boston.
In an exclusive Web video from Your Turn to Care, volunteer Barbara Browning demonstrates how seniors can help each other around the house and even get out for a day on the town.
Watch the full story "It Takes a Village," part of our special series of reports on elder care and the soon-to-air KCET documentary series, Your Turn to Care.
“¡Murales Rebeldes! L.A. Chicana/o Murals under Siege" is a new book and exhibition that uncover the demise of some of L.A.'s most important Chicanx murals — and what their stories can teach Angelenos about the future of this mighty art form.
