The role of Giselle has attracted many of the world's most renowned ballerinas.
It includes a physically and technically challenging solo known as Giselle's Act One Variation.
The ballerina must hop across the stage on the toe of one foot for an astonishing 15 seconds.
Here's a look at 19-year old Allyssa Bross performing the solo during her opening night debut. Pay special attention about one minute into the solo for what Los Angeles Ballet Executive Director Julie Whittaker calls the "dreaded 'hops en pointe.'"
