A Trail Connecting Crenshaw to the Sea | Mar. 8

On the March 8 episode of SoCal Update, Angelenos have found refuge in the outdoors during the pandemic. KPCC Reporter Sharon McNary discusses her interview with a visionary who helped create an ambitious new 13-mile trail from the Crenshaw District to Playa del Rey.

As a kid, David McNeil, a native Angeleno who grew up going to local schools, dreamt of turning the oil fields of Baldwin Hills into beautiful open spaces for his neighbors in South Los Angeles. As an adult, he helped make that happen by leading the Baldwin Hills Conservancy, a small state agency with the power to buy land and place it with public agencies that can convert it to parkland.
