Community Efforts to Curb Oil Drilling in L.A. | Feb. 15

On the Feb. 15 episode of SoCal Update, we look at urban oil drilling in L.A. and how city officials are responding to community efforts to curb it. L.A. is home to thousands of active oil and gas wells, many of them in densely populated neighborhoods. Reports have shown that drilling causes nose bleeds, headaches and many other health problems, even miscarriages for residents who live nearby. KCET Digital Producer Carla Pineda discusses how thanks to a movement led by community members, many of these wells could be shut down for good.
