Kobe Crash Cause Found; ACLU Sues Lancaster | Feb. 9

On the Feb. 9 episode of SoCal Update, the latest findings on the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and eight others last year, plus why the City of Lancaster and the Sheriff’s Department are getting sued.

The federal safety officials at the National Transportation Safety Board blamed the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and eight others last year on the pilot’s poor decision to fly into clouds. KPCC Producer Olivia Richard shares more.

The ACLU and others are suing the City of Lancaster and the L.A. County Sheriff’s department over a citation system they say “discriminates on the basis of both race and poverty.” The complaint calls out citations that can be as much as $1,000 for sleeping outside or even sitting outside, quote, without a reason. KPCC Reporter Robert Garrova explains the details.
