LAUSD On Track to Reopen; Parents React | Mar. 8

On the March 8 episode of SoCal Update, KPCC Reporter Kyle Stokes says the Los Angeles Unified School District and its teachers union could strike a deal as early as this week. KPCC Reporter Caroline Champlin offers tips on how to prepare kids for their return to the classroom.

Monday morning, LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner said the district is on-track to meet the United Teachers Los Angeles’ demands to reopen campuses across the city. Now, Beutner wants the district and the union to agree on a timetable to make that happen. The superintendent wants younger students back on campus by mid-April.

As several school districts in the region announce or come close to finalizing their reopening plans, parents in different areas of the city share their preference between staying online or hybrid school.
