Are Colleges Doing Enough to Protect Students From Sexual Violence? | Feb. 16

On the Feb. 16 episode of SoCal Update, a 2014 state audit found that public universities were not doing enough to protect students from sexual violence. Adolfo Guzman-Lopez reports on what has changed and what hasn’t.

The audit made recommendations for all University of California and California State University campuses but targeted UCLA, San Diego State, UC Berkeley and Chico State. The audit came at a time when these issues were getting national attention — and right before the Me Too movement picked up. Students at UCLA say that campus could do more to fund support programs for victims of sexual assault and make the policies transparent.
