SoCal Update

On the March 2 episode of SoCal Update, KPCC Food Editor Elina Shatkin explains who qualifies for the vaccine this week and KPCC Science Reporter Jacob Margolis gives an update on California’s dry rainy season.

Starting this week, L.A. County’s food and agriculture workers can receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This includes people who work at grocery stores, restaurants, farms, ranches, food production facilities and food assistance programs. Food delivery drivers qualify too.

February marks the end of California’s rainy season and it’s not looking great. In Southern California, we’ve seen far less than half of our normal rainfall in some spots. This could put us on a path for an extreme drought later this year.
