Why South L.A.’s Vaccine Rates Remain Low | Mar. 2

On the March 2 episode of SoCal Update, KPCC Health Reporter Jackie Fortiér looks at why vaccination rates are still low in places like South Los Angeles.

We’ve heard a lot about getting the COVID-19 vaccine to the people and communities that have been most impacted by the virus. Reasons include skepticism, lack of transparent public health information and issues with the state’s online vaccine booking system. The state and vaccine clinic administrators are taking steps to prevent vaccine chasers from wealthy areas from taking all the vaccine appointments in areas like South L.A., where people need them most.
