Police and firefighters are investigating a dead body found in a remote area of Griffith Park. Two hikers spotted the body near Bee Rock, which is located above the Old Zoo Picnic Area, and reported it to authorities around 1 p.m.
Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said 22 firefighters, including urban search-and-rescue team members, were dispatched to remove the body -- only identified so far as a male by police -- from a rugged hillside.
No information was immediately available on the identity of the body or circumstances surrounding the death.
There were no trail closures due to the investigation, a ranger told KCET.
