Andes

Our journey starts in the north of the chain, where volcanic mountains rise into tropical skies. Here, dense forests have colonized their slopes -- a complex and magical world of steep slopes and hidden valleys. This is home to the Spectacled Bear, the only bear in South America. We follow a mother bear as she teaches her cubs how to live in their complex world.

Penguin Shores

This episode follows the journey of cold, rich water from the stormy Southern Ocean via the mighty Humboldt Current, all the way to the Equator -- shaping life all the way up the west coast of South America. It even transforms one of the most inhospitable habitats on Earth into one of the richest marine ecosystems known, with the highest densities of seabirds ever seen. Also tracking the same journey are huge bull Sperm Whales, heading for their breeding grounds in the Galapagos Islands.
