Your Turn to Care

When Is It Time for a Caregiver to Ask for Help?

Author Gail Sheehy brings up how after a few years of caregiving, the physical strain can be so overwhelming that the caregiver feels they "can't do it anymore." She offers some very practical ways to get help before it gets to that stage so that caregivers don't compromise their own health as they care for the health of their aging senior. This may include having another person in to assist with elder care. If the senior resists having someone else caring for them, Ms. Sheehy gives tips on how to introduce another caregiver so that the senior will feel comfortable and safe with a new person.
