Rain, Snow Predicted for Southern California Monday Night

The National Weather Service is expecting a storm to hit the region Monday evening. Rain, snow and gusty winds are predicted with a majority of precipitation falling in the higher mountains of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Up to three-quarters of an inch of rain may fall throughout Los Angeles County, save for the high desert, said Dave Bruno, a weather service meteorologist. Additionally, up to two inches could fall in foothill and mountain areas, and preciptiation might come late Tuesday to the Inland Empire and down the coast in Orange and San Diego counties.

The snow level may drop to as low as 5,000 feet in some areas, leaving four to eight inches, with the possibility of a few inches above 6,500 feet in the San Gabriel Mountains. No snow is predicted for San Bernardino and Riverside county ranges.

The weather system is expected to clear by Wednesday morning.
