Government Shutdown: Even National Park Websites Went Dark

If there was any confusion about whether or not the nation's national parks were open for business during the government shutdown, website visitors were given a clear answer this morning. Whether you're trying to load a park homepage or some historical information, all you get is the above screenshot that reads:

Because of the federal government shutdown, all national parks are closed and National Park Service webpages are not operating. For more information, go to www.doi.gov.

Furthermore, social media accounts of some California parks have finally acknowledged the shutdown:

And to boot, some sad irony. Today is Yosemite National Park's 123rd birthday, something Google is celebrating on its homepage with its popular doodles.
