LA's first environmental film festival kicked off with an advance screening of An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power at Paramount Studios on July 27, 2017 in anticipation of the first Earth Focus Environmental Film Festival on July 29, 2017.

The film is former vice president Al Gore's follow-up to "An Invonvinent Truth", one of the earliest documentaries to bring climate change to the forefront of cultural knowledge. Peter Howell of the Toronto Star said of the film, "There’s more doom and gloom — but also hope for meaningful change — to be found in Al Gore’s followup to his Oscar-blessed 2006 doc that sounded the alarm about global warming."

The private screening, which was hosted by Krisin Davis and followed with a Q&A with directors Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, was well-attended. Celebrity guests included Kristin Bauer van Straten, Effie T. Brown, James Cromwell, Keith David, Shelley Fabares Farrell, Mike Farrell, Patrick Fabian, Lesley Fera, Sarain Fox, Aidan Gallagher, Elaine Hendrix, Tina Huang, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Mike Judge, Sharon Lawrence, Betheny Joy Lenz, Low Leaf, Tig Notaro, Oscar Nunez, Raphael Sbarge, Jazmyn Simon and more.

The evening was hosted by KCETLink Media Group, D.C. EFF, and American Cinematheque with support from Deadline and Motev.
