'Lady Bird' Soars at the 2017 Winter KCET Cinema Series
Following a screening of "Lady Bird", Writer/Director Greta Gerwig attended a Q&A hosted by Cinema Series host Pete Hammond.
A smart comedy that marks the directorial debut of actress and now writer/director Greta Gerwig with a storyline that is strongly influenced by Gerwig’s own high school years in Sacramento. The film had its world premiere this year at the Telluride Film Festival and received rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Gerwig has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most engaging talents. She is known for her roles in "20th Century Women," "Jackie," "Wiener-Dog," "Maggie’s Plan" and "Mistress America," a comedy that she co-wrote with Academy Award® nominee Noah Baumbach ("The Squid and the Whale") which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Gerwig’s previous role in "Frances Ha" earned her both a Golden Globe and Broadcast Film Critics Association Award nominations.
Gerwig first received critical acclaim for her breakout role as Florence in "Greenberg" which earned her several nominations including a Gotham Award nomination for Breakthrough Performance and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead. Other film credits include "The Humbling," "To Rome With Love," and 'Arthur." Gerwig graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College and currently resides in New York City.
