'Private Life' Gets Real at the Fall 2018 KCET Cinema Series

Following a screening of “Private Life,” producer Stefanie Azpiazu attended a Q&A hosted by Cinema Series host Pete Hammond. Rachel (Kathryn Hahn) and Richard (Paul Giamatti) have been repeatedly trying to get pregnant, undergoing multiple fertility treatments while also exploring adoption and other options. Just as the possibilities of conception seem to get further away with each passing attempt, an unexpected Hail Mary arrives in the form of Sadie (Kayli Carter), a recent college dropout who might just prove to be the last, unconventional piece of their fertility puzzle.

Stefanie Azpiazu is the Head of Production and Development at Likely Story, an independent film production company founded by Azpiazu and President/CEO Anthony Bregman in 2006. She is best known for her work on "Land of Steady Habits," "Enough Said," "Our Idiot Brother," "The Circle," "Indignation," "The Extra Man," "Please Give," "Long the Companion" and "Carriers." Likely Story's upcoming slate includes films by Charlie Kaufman, John Carney and Greg Kwedar.

As a production executive, Azpiazu oversaw production on Charlie Kaufman's "Synecdoche, New York," Michel Gondry's "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," Mike Mills’ feature film debut "Thumbsucker" and Nicole Holofcener's previous two films "Friends with Money" and "Lovely & Amazing."

Prior to working in production, she began her career as a Story Editor at USA Films and in acquisitions at October Films.
