'Shock and Awe' Screens at the 2018 Summer KCET Cinema Series
Following a screening of “Shock and Awe”, actor, director and producer Rob Reiner attended a Q&A hosted by Cinema Series host Pete Hammond. “Shock and Awe” is based on the true events of the Knight Ridder journalists who investigated allegations by the Bush Administration concerning Saddam Hussein’s alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction as an excuse for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Directed by Rob Reiner and written by Joey Hartstone. The film stars Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, James Marsden, Milla Jovovich and Jessica Biel.
Rob Reiner (actor/director/producer) first came to fame as a two-time Emmy® Award winning actor on the landmark television series "All In the Family." He went on to become an acclaimed director and is known for his work on "This Is Spinal Tap," "Stand By Me," "Misery," "A Few Good Men," "Ghosts of Mississippi," "When Harry Met Sally," "The American President" and "The Princess Bride." Recent films include "The Bucket List," "Flipped," "Being Charlie" and "LBJ" starring Woody Harrelson.
Reiner is also a dedicated political activist. In California, he passed a tobacco tax initiative to fund early childhood development. For seven years he chaired California’s First 5 Commission to oversee the implementation of the initiative. Recently he and his wife Michele, producer of "Shock and Awe," helped form The American Foundation for Equal Rights, which filed a federal lawsuit to overturn California’s Prop 8. Their victory at the Supreme Court paved the way for marriage equality nationwide.
