'The Front Runner' Screens on Election Day at the Winter 2018 KCET Cinema Series
Following a screening of "The Front Runner," director/co-writer/producer Jason Reitman and producer Helen Estabrook attended a Q&A hosted by Cinema Series host Pete Hammond. The film looks back at the 1988 presidential race and Senator Gary Hart, the Democratic candidate who seems to have a winning path to the White House and enjoys particularly strong appeal with idealistic young voters. When allegations of an extramarital affair surface in the news media, Hart’s (Hugh Jackman) campaign abruptly derails, together with his personal life. Based on the 2014 book "All The Truth Is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid" by Matt Bai.
