Blue Planet "Coral Seas"

Tuesday, April 18 9:00 PM

Bathed in warm, clear tropical water and brilliant sunlight, coral reefs are the rainforests of the sea. Spectacular numbers make it necessary to stand out to survive. This competition is highly visible as brightly-colored fish compete for food, territory and mates. Incredible time-lapse photography shows the dramatic formation of a coral reef, portraying its myriad inhabitants and its ultimate destruction.

By All Rights

This film centers on the efforts to give appropriate legal rights to whales, dolphins, and porpoises. The film discusses the unique human-like qualities these animals possess and the difficulties they face in dealing with many human activities.

Earth Focus “Tackling Ocean Challenges”

Saturday, April 22, 7:30 p.m.

Oceans support life, yet they are overfished, polluted, and, with global climate change, are becoming increasingly acidic. The XPrize Ocean Initiative seeks to solve some of these critical threats by bringing in teams from around the world for high-profile competitions to find the best new technologies and stimulate investment in research and development.

Saturday, April 22, 8:00 p.m.

Late each autumn, hundreds of sea turtles become stranded on Cape Cod due to hypothermia. Although born of wealth and privilege, Gifford Pinchot (1865-1946) dedicated his life to public service — advocating for the sustainable management of natural resources. He championed the establishment of the National Forests and the U.S. Forest Service, where he served as its first chief under President Theodore Roosevelt.
