Community Connections: Meet Anissa V.
My name is Anissa V. and I'm a junior at South El Monte High School. I really enjoy my school life because I have so much fun being a student. The most important thing to know about me is I'm a hardworking Associate Student Body (ASB) member. ASB helps give me an optimistic view of the world because it highlights the importance of helping others and know we could effect someones life for the better.
The object that connects me to my community is ASB t-shirt. ASB is very special to me because I've been in in this club since my freshman year. Everybody in ASB is very dedicated and loves it as much as I do. ASB does so many great things for our school and the community at large. For example, on October 3rd we held a fundraiser for Pink Day and the whole school wore pink to show support for all the women battling breast cancer or to remember those who have lost the fight against breast cancer.
The effort to move community classes online has been a large feat. With 115 colleges, the state's community college network is the largest higher education system in the country.
Los Angeles County health officials reported 10 more deaths due to coronavirus today, bringing the county's total to 54, while also confirming the first known death of a health-care worker in the county from the virus.
Tenants seeking eviction protection would have to produce documentation such as medical bills or termination notices. This has advocates and some city officials pushing to extend eviction protections to all, saying renters should be able to stay home.
