"U.S. Drops 'Mother of All Bombs'"
Written by Samantha Healy, Mila Cuda & Raul Herrera. Performed by Samantha Healy.

How does this issue affect you or your community?

Samantha Healy: Though the Syrian war, at this moment in time, does not affect me personally or my community I feel it affects us as a nation. The potential outcomes of the recent military action could be detrimental to our future. It's also important that as a country we support and empathize with other countries as much as possible. It is easy to forget when we are not living with the violence although other countries are enduring destruction and devastation. We must do our part of not just being outsiders watching but do everything we can to protect and fight for the rights of all people. Poetry is my way of speaking against injustice and showing support for those in need of it. I write to connect stories, experiences and voices because, in times like these, our voices can be our greatest strength.
