Volunteer for The Great Los Angeles River Clean Up

Support Provided By

Youth Voices is working with students from the Los Angeles River School to re-imagine the L.A. River and the surrounding communities as part of the Northeast Los Angelels Riverfront Collaborative. The students formed teams to explore and investigate their communities, map assets, collect and share stories, data and community input for their projects. Vince and Raul worked with their teams to re-envision two vacant lots. Follow their work hereand on Instagram and Twitter by using #kcetyv.

Hey! We're Raul Demetrio and Vince Caldera. We are both high school students currently attending the Los Angeles River School. We teamed up to put together this little video in an attempt to encourage other students and individuals to volunteer for the 25th La Gran Limpieza: The Great Los Angeles River CleanUp. The event is organized by the Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR.)

Last year, we had over 80 students come down to the river and volunteer a small portion of their Saturday to help beautify and cleanse the river in whichever way they saw fit. Please join us this upcoming Saturday, May 3 from 9-12 p.m. at Taylor Yard in Cypress park and all along the Glendale Narrows.

The Los Angeles River is a significant part of our community, help us make it something we can all be proud to call our own.

In order to prevent people from becoming homeless before it happens, Los Angeles County officials are using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to predict who in the county is most likely to lose their housing. They would then step in to help those people with their rent, utility bills, car payments and more so they don't become unhoused.
